Jonatas Melo has served as CEO of Baystar since 2024. Jonatas brings extensive leadership experience across commercial management, business strategy, product management, supply chain and corporate finance. Since joining Baystar, he has led the company through a period of significant transformation, successfully transitioning the business through the implementation of the first Borstar® technology plant in the Americas while advancing initiatives that have strengthened both Baystar’s culture and business performance. Under his leadership, Baystar achieved double-digit yearly growth, while sharpening its focus on higher-value businesses and navigating a challenging industry downturn.
Prior to joining Baystar, Jonatas spent 13 years with Borouge International in progressively senior roles across the Middle East, Asia and Europe, most recently as Global Vice President of Performance Materials, where he led the consumer products and infrastructure industry clusters. Before joining Borouge International, Jonatas worked with ExxonMobil and Cosan in South America.
Jonatas holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of São Paulo, Brazil; an MBA with honors from IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland; and a Certificate in Global Management from INSEAD in Singapore.
