Yasser Alabbasi is an Electrical Engineer and is the current President for Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC). He has a BSc degree in Electrical Power Systems from the University of Bahrain, and an MBA in Financial Management from Hull University, in the UK. He started working for GPIC in October 1988 as a Trainee Graduate Electrical Engineer, Yasser has undergone extensive training and development both in Bahrain and overseas and has held a number of senior positions in GPIC. These include Electrical Supervisor in the Maintenance Department, Training Superintendent within Administration, Safety and Security Superintendent and Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Manager in the SHE Department, Technical Services Manager, Plants Operations Manager and General Manager Manufacturing from July 2017 until October 2021, before being promoted to his current role.

Yasser is a member of the Supreme Council of Occupational Safety and Health for the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs within the Kingdom of Bahrain, and Deputy Chairman of the Bahrain Health and Safety Society. He is also a member of a number of international professional and social societies including the National Safety Council, the UK’s Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA); Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), UK, National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA), USA.
