Paul Smith

Paul Smith is a Managing Director and the Head of Global Chemicals at Citi, a leading global banking firm. Paul is an investment banker with 30 years of experience covering the Chemicals sector, primarily focused on Mergers & Acquisitions. Over the course of his career, Paul has advised on many of the largest transactions in the Chemical sector including advising SABIC on the sale of the PIF stake to Saudi Aramco, Dow Chemical on its acquisition of Rohm & Haas, Lubrizol on the sale of the company to Berkshire Hathaway, and Sherwin Williams on its acquisition of Valspar. In addition to these transactions, Paul has led many of the largest IPOs in the chemical sector, including Nalco, Axalta Coatings Systems, Atotech, Huntsman Corporation and Taminco. Paul is Canadian and lives in New York City. He has an MBA from the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) from Queen’s University.
