Greg Skelton is Head of Government Relations for the Americas at SABIC, one of the world’s largest plastics and chemical manufacturers.  He joined SABIC in November 2017, and is responsible for building and evolving key relationships with national, state and local government officials, industry organizations and agencies to benefit SABIC’s brand, reputation, growth objectives and business interests in the Americas region.  Greg is a member of SABIC’s Americas Leadership Council, where he sponsor’s SABIC’s diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.  He also serves as co-chair of the International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA) Plastics Leadership Group, where he helps direct the industry’s advocacy on plastics issues in global forums.

From 2008-2017, Greg was Senior Director for Regulatory and Technical Affairs and International Team Leader at the American Chemistry Council, where he advocated on behalf of the chemical industry in a range of international forums on global chemical regulatory issues, sustainable development, energy and climate change, and international trade.  He served as the global private sector representative on the Bureau (governing board) of the UN’s Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM) from 2012-17.

Prior to joining ACC, Greg was a career foreign service officer for the New Zealand government, where his assignments included tours as a political officer in Washington DC, a trade negotiator at the WTO in Geneva, and a policy advisor on Latin America.  He has also served as a Legislative Fellow in the U.S. Congress.

Greg holds a Master of Arts in History with First Class Honors, and a Bachelor of Commerce in Management Relations and Economics from the University of Auckland, New Zealand.
